XCMG broke ground on its XCMG Indonesia Remanufacturing Centre on September 16 in Balikpapan, Indonesia. As XCMG’s first overseas base dedicated to the overhaul and remanufacturing of mining equipment components, the project marks the start of a localised aftermarket service centre supporting equipment throughout its operational lifecycle and represents a key step in the company’s overseas localisation strategy.
The centre will integrate the overhaul and remanufacturing of core components, regional parts warehousing, local technical talent development and used-equipment refurbishment. It will connect key processes including used-component recovery and inspection, repair and remanufacturing, parts supply and on-site service, creating a localised aftermarket service system spanning the operational lifecycle of mining equipment.
XCMG has been ramping up its deliveries in the country. In 2025, XCMG delivered two large fleets of the 120 t class XDE130 rigid mining truck to Indonesia – 32 units to Cokal’s PT Borneo Bara Prima project in the North Barito Basin, Central Kalimantan and an additional 35 units to contractor Darma Henwa for its operations at the Bengalon Coal Project (BCP) in East Kalimantan – the latter along with four units of the XE2000 hydraulic excavator and two XE1250s.
Designed to meet local customer needs, the centre will adopt global remanufacturing standards and a lean quality management system. Once operational, major overhaul work can be carried out locally, shortening equipment downtime and service response times while helping ensure restored component performance. These capabilities are expected to help customers better manage operating costs, improve equipment availability and increase operational efficiency, while accelerating XCMG’s transition from an equipment supplier to a provider of full-lifecycle solutions.
“With the remanufacturing center located here, overhaul and spare-parts support will be faster, and downtime-related losses will be easier to control,” said an Indonesian mining customer representative. “This gives us greater confidence in deepening our cooperation with XCMG.”
After more than 30 years in Indonesia, XCMG has steadily expanded its localised capabilities across the equipment value chain. The groundbreaking is the latest in a series of milestones advancing the company’s local operations this year.
Days earlier, XCMG officially introduced XCMG Indonesia Finance Company (ABC Multi Finance) at Mining Indonesia 2026, held September 9-12 in Jakarta. The move expanded XCMG’s local capabilities beyond equipment, technology and services to include integrated financing solutions.
Earlier this year, the company also completed and commissioned its Indonesia New Energy Manufacturing Base, bringing manufacturing and delivery closer to the local market. It inaugurated an Indonesia R&D centre focused on adapting equipment to high-temperature, humid environments and complex operating conditions.
By extending its existing R&D, manufacturing, supply, sales, service and financing capabilities into localised component overhaul and remanufacturing, XCMG aims to provide more comprehensive solutions for Indonesia’s mining and infrastructure sectors and support their transition toward greener, more efficient operations.
On the manufacturing side of things, on July 27, an inauguration ceremony for XCMG’s Indonesian New Energy Manufacturing Base was held at the Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP), and the first batch of new energy equipment – XC968-EV wheel loaders – officially rolled off the production line for delivery to strategic partner Tsingshan Group. This was XCMG’s first overseas new energy factory so was a major development.
